The Sussexes may not be on the best of terms with the royals, but the picture would suggest that the new monarch still does have affection for them.
This is despite the fact that he made it clear he wishes them the best with their lives ‘overseas’ in his first speech to the nation. This, at the time, was viewed in a negative context, but it could equally be seen as Charles simply wanting what is best for them.
In the video here, we can see that Charles is meeting the current British Prime Minister Liz Truss. As he does so, the camera does a full shot of his office. That is when the photo of Harry and Meghan becomes visible.
This was not the only photo that was seen. There was also a picture involving his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, with the next heirs in line to the throne: himself, Prince William, and Prince George.
It is not exactly clear who is responsible for the make up of his office, but on some level, Charles would have a say. Therefore, no matter what may go on in front of the cameras, behind the scenes the monarch has nothing negative to say about the Sussexes.
The fans on social media, though, questioned the placing of the picture. A certain subset of people felt that this was done in order to show everything was fine on the surface.
After all, King Charles was not faced with an easy prospect of filling in for Queen Elizabeth II. One person wrote: “Strategically placed for this video. Let’s be honest!”
