King Charles III is reportedly set to sell horses that he inherited from his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, following her recent passing.

The former monarch was known for having a fondness for animals, as her collection of corgis and horses are testament to that fact.
While the corgis have allegedly gone on to live with Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, it appears that the horses could find themselves in another home.
Tattersalls, which happens to be an auction house, has made it clear that there will be 14 horses that belonged to Queen Elizabeth II going under the hammer. Despite initially appearing as a shock move, this is nothing to write home about.
In an official statement on behalf of the auction, Jimmy George said the following: “It’s nothing out of the ordinary. Every year they would sell horses.
“The Queen had brood mares of her own, she would breed them and sell them. You can’t keep them all. Every year owners sell stock. His Majesty is just doing what owners do.”
Nevertheless, this move has not gone down well for the following reasons. First of all, there is a perception that the horses had a sentimental value.
Therefore, in order to honour the former monarch, keeping them could have been seen as a way to remember her. Secondly, since the horses were clearly settled, removing them to a new environment may not prove fruitful.
Lastly, in any event, since the corgis were given to members connected to royalty, there are obvious question marks over why this cannot be done with the horses. The fans on social media made their position very clear.
A significant proportion of people bashed the monarch for this move. One person wrote: “GOD FORBID YOU FROM SELLING THE QUEENS HORSES.
“HORSES REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II, AND ALL THAT IS HERS ALONG WITH THEM!.”
