As if being injured wasn’t enough misfortune for the Samoan Submission Machine, he will now be suspended for 30 days. This comes after he has done something to fail the companies wellness policy. There are a variety of things that can cause this, from using banned substances and PEDs, to no showing a drug test, or even not getting perscription paperwork in on time. Much like Andrade, we will likely not know what caused the suspension. It is Samoa Joes first offense, giving two more strikes on his record. The news was confirmed on Twitter by WWE themselves.
Samoa Joe Can Say Goodbye To Main Event Dreams
While he came into NXT as a star, being the first man to capture the NXT Championship twice, Samoa Joe has failed to emulate the same success on the WWE main roster. He has been given title shots against people like Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles and Kofi Kingston, but has never captured the WWE or Universal Championship. This is likely going to remain the same. His history of repeated injuries alongside this wellness policy failure, will likely squash any hopes of him as a top star for WWE.
He Should Be Back In Time For Wrestlemania
Provided he is cleared to return from his reported injury, his suspension won’t keep him out from Wrestlemania. He has maintained a steady role in the fight against Seth Rollins, The Authors of Pain and Buddy Murphy. Should the plan for Wrestlemania be an 8 man tag involving them, we will likely see Samoa Joe back up Kevin Owens at the event. It is also a flexible role, and we could see any number of babyfaces from the brand fit into that spot as well, with Aleister Black as a strong option.
Samoa Joe has had a trend of unfortunate luck during this time of the wrestling year, with him never being able to truly make an Impact at Wrestlemania. Hopefully he is able to be back in time to get a good performance there this year, but if not there is always next year.
