We’d recently see the AEW debut of Matt Taven, and he’s already found his way into a title match. Wardlow is just handing out title shots, and Taven wasn’t going to turn down a chance to add the TNT Championship to his trophy case. As a former ROH World Champion, Taven knows how to take down just about any opponent in the ring – but has never faced someone like Wardlow. He has 886 total days as a champion in ROH, holding the World, TV, Tag and Trios titles between 2013 & 2021. Despite all that, Taven will have to be on the top of his game, or he’ll just be the next victim of the Powerbomb Symphony.

The Kingdom Look To Make This A Handicap Match

Taven would remind everyone that on his first night with an AEW contract, he won the ROH World Television Championship. He promises that tonight history repeats. Wardlow would shove Taven as the match began, before Taven showed his speed and hit a dropkick.

Taven took a chance to taunt, and ate a headbutt, before being tossed with a Belly To Belly Suplex. Wardlow would take this fight to the floor, winning out on a brawl even after Mike Bennett got a cheap shot in as Maria Kannelis Bennett distracted the referee. Taven would hit a dive over the top rope to Wardlow, before Bennett shoved him into the steel steps.

Wardlow was rolled into the ring, and Taven would hit a frog splash right to the knee of Wardlow. Some stomps and a Foot DDT would follow, and someone would ring the bell at ringside – but the referee just ignored that. Taven would lock the leg in a submission, trying to cut the big man down.

Matt Taven Suffers The Powerbomb Symphony Of Wardlow

Wardlow would rise and limp towards Taven, but folded at a kick to the knee. Another leg lock would be applied, with Wardlow having to go for the bottom rope. Taven hit the Running Knee strike, but would only get a two count – before going for another Frog Splash.

Wardlow avoided, and caught a running Taven into an F10 with one good leg. Taven would be turned inside out with the big lariat, before the Belly to Belly Suplexes would land. Spinebuster planted Taven, and suddenly the TNT Champion was in control.

Taven tried to block the powerbomb into a Jacknife Cover, but Wardlow bridged back into the powerbomb. The symphony would be directed by Wardlow, and then the fans. Second powerbomb landed, and the third. A fourth would follow, and Wardlow remains TNT Champion. After the bell, Bennett would attack – Samoa Joe made the save, and The Kingdom ran for the hills.

Powerhouse Hobbs would march down to the ring after The Kingdom ran, with The Embassy attacking from behind. Is Hobbs now running with The Embassy, or does he just want a title shot? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
