Billy Gunn’s been on the b-side of wrestling news the last couple of weeks as speculation about why he wasn’t at the D-Generation X 25th anniversary celebration on October 10 WWE Raw.
Triple H, Sean Waltman, Shawn Michaels, and Road Dogg were there along with Chyna in spirit and the fans loved it.
But Billy Gunn’s absence was noticeable, but understandable because he works for AEW.
The reasons why circulated through social media as more and more information came out. It seemed like no one had the full story or understanding of what happened.

Gunn was ready
Road Dogg was among the first to talk about it on his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, and he said Gunn was ready to appear for the show.
“It broke my heart, and I believe it broke his too. In all actuality, Hunter was not happy about it either. Shawn and X-Pac weren’t either. We wanted the band, all that we could get back together. Chyna is there in spirit. That didn’t happen. From what I understand, and I’m not in those inner circles anymore, and for my sanity rightfully so and thankful. I don’t know the exact reason, but I was told everything that we could do was done, and we couldn’t come together. During the day prior, I texted him, ‘Hey, are you going to be able to make it? Have you found out any answers yet?’
“He said, ‘Yes, I’m in.’ I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s awesome.’ Literally, before I landed at home, I found out he was not in. I texted him back and he wasn’t happy either. It just didn’t work, no matter what. I understand. Whatever. I understand we’re [AEW and WWE] not huge fans of each other from a business standpoint. It was a big deal, and I feel like he got ripped off and didn’t live it with us. I’m sorry for that. I know he is too.”
Gunn did get an honorable mention of sorts when Corey Graves noted an absent member was working with office supplies.
As we mentioned above, bits of news about it broke out over the last couple of weeks, and Gunn said he doesn’t blame anyone for it as it’s a complicated situation when he works for a different company.
One possible reason for it is there was a refusal for the WWE to announce Gunn works for AEW after they did it for Mickie James and Impact Wrestling at the Royal Rumble.
This seems strange given how Road Dogg said Triple Hit felt about it, especially after the reports of it being about money were called false, but at this point it’s anyone’s guess.
We have a feeling there’s more to the story, but it’ll remain on the b-side of the news for the time being.
Why do you think Gunn didn’t appear? Was it a simple not agreeing on a name mention or was it more? Let us know in the comments below.
