Billy Gunn has had a rough year as far as it comes down to his sons. Austin & Colton Gunn have went from working alongside The Acclaimed, to turning on them, and having Billy trying to toughen them up. This all ended with them attacking their own father, fittingly enough on an episode of AEW Dynamite sponsored by the latest show in the A Song Of Ice & Fire series. Tonight, Billy will face Colton in singles action – in the first ever father vs. son match in AEW history.
Thunder Rosa Injured, Interim AEW Women’s World Champion To Be Crowned At All Out
Before this match could begin, we’d get an update on the Thunder Rosa and her status as AEW Women’s World Champion. She’s injured and needs to step away to recover, so at All Out – we have a Fatal Four Way match for an interim AEW Women’s World Champion.
Much like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes before her, she’s seemingly not vacating the belt – making it clear that this is how AEW will handle injuries to champions. The announced match is Toni Storm vs. Britt Baker vs. Hikaru Shida vs. Jamie Hayter – with whoever wins hopefully holding the belt until they can unify against Rosa. It’s going to be an incredible match, with two former champions – and two ladies hungry for their first AEW gold.
Father vs. Son As Billy Gunn Faces Colton Gunn
Colton Gunn would get the early advantage, using his speed to outwork his father. A single hard shoulder tackle would send Colton to the floor, and he’d pose in the corner. In the ring, Billy would show his veteran instincts, avoiding an attack in the corner and nailing a heavy lariat.
On the floor, Billy would throw Colton into the barricade and steel steps, and took some time to scissor with the fans. Back in the ring, he’d stomp Colton into the mat – and on the floor, The Acclaimed was taken out by Austin Gunn & Stokely Hathaway. This would be the distraction, and Colton hit a low blow and Colt-45 for the win.
After the match, Gunn Club would stomp out their father – and would officially be added into the faction Stokely Hathaway is building. Swerve In Our Glory would make the save – and it seems like we could be seeing Gunn Club go for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at All Out.
Britt Baker Hasn’t Missed A Step
Britt Baker is back in the title hunt with Thunder Rosa injured, getting her chance at All Out in a Fatal Four Way. Tonight has her first singles match in two months. Baker will be taking on the hungry KiLynn King, who was close to claiming a win over Toni Storm. King is just one signature victory away from really finding her place in an AEW ring, and tonight she has a chance to get that win over Baker.
King would catch a superkick attempt as this match began, and would throw the lariat. Baker avoided this, and would drop her with the Slingblade. Some elbow strikes in the corner would follow, King climbed the ropes for a big shotgun dropkick.
King would have the homestate Ohio crowd firmly behind her in this match, but would run into a flatliner into the corner. Baker would yank King into the corner post, but would take the Full Nelson slam. She’d kick out, and hit a series of Superkicks before the Curb Stomp & Lockjaw for the finish.
