Emma Slater, from the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ cast, has reacted to the news that judge Len Goodman will not be returning for the next season.
DWTS: Emma Slater Reacts To Judge Len Goodman Stepping Down
Len, for his part, has been with the show since 2005. And 17 seasons later, he has now made the decision to hang up his boots which is why the current 31st season will be his last.
The decision was justified on the basis that Goodman wanted to spend more time with his family. While that may have been the case, there is no denying that the show has lost one of its OG members.
With that being said, people connected to the show had something to say on the matter. UK professional dancer Emma Slater made it clear that she was very emotional.
She said: “Len, I’ve known him since I was 10 years old…I remember going up to him as a kid and thanking him for believing in me. Twenty years later, I did the same thing tonight … and I cried my eyes out again.”
Nevertheless, there is a positive side to all of this. First of all, it gives the show an opportunity to rebrand. By not having Len there anymore, the producers have the chance to find another judge who could be completely different. In this way, it will keep the show moving forward.
Secondly, it appears as though Len would want this. And that is why Emma is on board to find someone that could fill in Len’s shoes. Her following comments confirmed as much: “I think Len would also want that.
“I also am a big believer in respecting what people have done, but then embracing new personalities and making way for people that would shine just as much.”
It is going to be a very tricky time for the show moving forward, but it also provides an opportunity to introduce something new to the audience.
