Over the past year, DDT Pro Wrestling star Konosuke Takeshita has made a major impact in All Elite Wrestling. His excursion in the United States saw him become a frequent fixture of shows like AEW Dynamite & AEW Rampage, where he wrestled the likes of Eddie Kingston, Jon Moxley & Hangman Page. Now, he’s sticking around in AEW – as he has signed a contract with the company.

Tony Khan Announces That Konosuke Takeshita Is All Elite

This would be announced by Tony Khan on Twitter, alongside the announcement that Takeshita will be speaking to the crowd during Full Gear Zero Hour later tonight.

It's official! Congratulations @Takesoup, you are All Elite!

After signing his AEW contract + winning again last night on Friday Night #AEWRampage on @TNTdrama, we'll hear from Konosuke Takeshita on

This is an interesting situation, given how Takeshita is a major star in DDT. However, we have seen the likes of Riho & Hikaru Shida juggle their work in Japan alongside AEW, and Takeshita would update his Twitter bio to note that he’s working for both AEW & DDT. This is a step towards an even stronger working relationship between the two companies, with DDT president Sanshiro Takagi recently coming to the United States alongside Jun Akiyama & Takeshita.

It’s likely we see even more crossover between the two companies in 2023, with a joint show in Japan possible as a way to start a foothold for AEW in Japan. This partnership alongside working with New Japan Pro Wrestling shows that AEW are an easy company to work alongside. They are building healthy partnerships all around the world, a contrast to the often walled off approach of WWE – which only rarely allows their talent to perform elsewhere.

With AEW fans already falling in love with Takeshita, it’s likely that he finds a focus role in the company, and is expected to find himself in a major match at the upcoming “Winter Is Coming” episode of AEW Dynamite. Fans have wanted to see him challenge for the TNT Championship, and should Wardlow leave Full Gear still champion – Takeshita being the man to overcome him would make for a huge moment. Another possible title for Takeshita is the AEW All-Atlantic Championship, held by Orange Cassidy.

Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
