The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing everyone that he doesn’t exist. That was a line used by MJF during the build to his AEW World Championship match with Jon Moxley. However, MJF might have not been speaking about himself – as during that match, William Regal would betray Moxley – sliding MJF his signature brass knuckles to hand him the victory. Tonight, Regal explains his action – and perhaps reminds everyone why he’s been known as a True Villain for many years.
Bryan Danielson Convinces Jon Moxley To Do The Right Thing
With a chorus of boo’s greeting him, Regal would inform everyone that MJF is not here tonight. Everyone can hear from him next week, as MJF does not have time to come to places like… Chicago. MJF is on the set of a major movie, and that is more important than AEW Dynamite for the new AEW World Champion.
Regal would say a number of weeks ago, MJF would be sent an email by Regal – and that will be explained next week. Next week on AEW Dynamite, the Devil Himself will be here. After this, the music of Jon Moxley would hit – and the former champion would march to the ring with murderous intent in his eyes.
Despite this, Regal would hold his ground in the ring – and Bryan Danielson would come to the aid of Regal, trying to be the cooler head tonight. While Regal did a bad thing on Saturday, we all have done bad things. Danielson would say that Regal has a bad neck, and that hurting Regal is not the right thing to do.
A slap to the face of Moxley would be one of the only ways to get through to him, and Danielson would finally get a message to Moxley. His dad had the same struggles as Moxley, and Regal stepped up to help explain. Danielson would urge Moxley to listen. He taught Danielson how to love his father again, and as a father – Moxley should be able to understand that.
If Moxley needs to hurt someone, Danielson would rather it be him. Instead, Moxley would only ask one thing of Regal – and that’s for him to run far away so he doesn’t get hurt. Walk away, and keep on walking. Regal would do just that, having been saved by Danielson.
Jake Hager Loves His Hat
Orange Cassidy has been a fighting champion since claiming the AEW All-Atlantic Championship from PAC. He’s battled in high stakes triple threat matches, and even against NJPW legend Katsuyori Shibata. Tonight, he’s called out Jake Hager for a match over the championship. Hager has not been viewed as a top talent for many years, but his size and experience as a former World Champion will make him a major test for Cassidy here tonight. This is the fifth defence for Cassidy as champion.
Cassidy would hit the slow low kicks, mocking Hager before knocking his hat off – and trying to throw it down. Matt Menard & Angelo Parker tried to get it back, before Daniel Garcia would try – but was yanked off the apron by Rocky Romero. Cassidy would dive onto Hager, who caught the champion and slammed him off the ring apron, and Hager got back his hat.
Hager would apply a bearhug until his hat fell off, and released Cassidy – before slingshotting him throat first into the bottom rope. Cassidy would try to get his hands in his pockets, but Hager would slam him instead. Hager would send Cassidy to the apron, and knocked him off into the waiting arms of Best Friends.
The House Always Wins
Hager would run them down before taking a suicide dive from Cassidy. Back in the ring, Hager took the Stundog Millionaire before a spinning DDT for a near fall. Hager Bomb would be blocked, but left Cassidy open for the Ankle Lock. Cassidy would get free by taking the hat off before an Orange Punch and roll up for the victory.
After the match, QT Marshall & The Factory hit the ring looking for a title shot – only for the music of House of Black to hat. Julia Hart was up on the apron, while Brody King , Buddy Matthews and Malakai Black running down Best Friends & The Factory alike. Their actions alone spoke volumes, and it’s clear it’s House of Black vs. everyone.
