A few days of rest have given Alex Coughlin & Gabriel Kidd some time to plan for one of their hardest matches in World Tag League – as they face down Tetsuya Naito & SANADA. Having won their first match of the tournament and getting an address in Korakuen Hall three years in the making off their list, the L.I.J duo is feeling good. However, they can’t look past Coughlin & Kidd – who took TMDK to their limits in their first match of the tournament, and are hungry for that signature win.
Gabriel Kidd Gets Suckered In By Tetsuya Naito
Kidd would kick things off alongside Naito, and was able to force the former World Champion to the ropes – allowing a clean break before getting a chance to join in the L.I.J pose with Naito. Naito would instead rake the eyes of Kidd, before he’d be sent to the floor with a Monkey Flip. Kidd would mock the signature pose of Naito, and tagged in Coughlin.
SANADA would meet Coughlin in the middle of the ring for some grappling, with Coughlin able to get a tight headlock applied. SANADA was able to slip into a headlock of his own, but was easily lifted to the ropes by The Android. Coughlin would block a snapmare before avoiding a dropkick and getting a two count off a cradle pinfall.
SANADA offered a handshake, before both men going for toekicks, and Coughlin able to win out of the situation by running SANADA down with a shoulder tackle. Kidd would press the advantage with a moonsault, before a miscue caused Coughlin to chop his own partner. Quickly, L.I.J would take advantage and Naito would apply a Figure Four Leg Lock to Coughlin, and forget how to let it go when Couglin found the ropes.
Coughlin & Kidd Have Yet To Find Their First Win
SANADA would be caught with a massive Belly To Belly Suplex, allowing Coughlin to make the tag to Kidd. Dropkicks to L.I.J would be followed by a backdrop to SANADA, and some hard chops in the corner. SANADA would be able to send Kidd to the floor, and follow up with the plancha. Back in the ring, TKO would be blocked – but SANADA was able to hit the dropkick.
Naito would avoid a German Suplex, before looking for a DDT. Kidd would make the save, tossing Naito with an exploder suplex. Coughlin would follow up with a deadlift Gutwrench Suplex, before looking for a double brainbuster with Kidd. SANADA made the save, before Naito nailed a massive DDT and the Destino for the victory.
Coughlin & Kidd showed potential once again tonight – but will need to find that next level if they want to get any victories in this stacked tournament field.
Great-O-Khan Needs To Avoid The Green Mist
Great-O-Khan has not been the same since tasting the vile green mist of Great Muta at Historic X-Over, and that would cost him and Aaron Henare their match against Naito & SANADA. Now, they look to be moving in the right direction as they meet the dominant TMDK in their second match of World Tag League. TMDK reminded everyone why they are such a threat with their victory over Coughlin & Kidd – and tonight look to move to four points.
Henare would kick things off with Nicholls, with a tight headlock applied. Nicholls would shove him off into the ropes and stood tall after the shoulder tackle. The springboard roundhouse kick out of the corner was ducked, before Haste would get the tag. A dropkick to the spine would follow, before TMDK would isolate Henare for some chops in their corner.
O-Khan would rush across the ring to make the save, allowing Henare to break free and make the tag. Haste would be dropped with a Mongolian Chop, before being used as the Throne Of O-Khan in the corner – and having his arms stretched back soon after. Haste would be taken to the floor and thrown into the barricade – before being rolled back into the ring and kicked in the face by Henare.
One Step Closer To A United Empire Finals
A quick tag to Nicholls would get the match back in the favour of TMDK, with Henare taking a DDT and the sliding lariat for a two count. The spinebuster and another sliding lariat would get another near fall, before the Blue Thunder Bomb was blocked – with Henare hitting the Berzerker Bomb instead. O-Khan would hit the Reverse Eliminator into the corner on Nicholls, before a Uranage for a near fall.
Haste would look to assist Nicholls in hitting Thunder Valley – only for Henare to make the save. Nicholls would be dropped with the Imperial Drop from O-Khan & Henare – and this one was over just like that. No using the Greet Mist, and O-Khan was able to get the victory – which ensures they don’t get lost in the pack.
