A Royal Family staff member, Lady Susan Hussey, has resigned after making racist remarks to a British charity head at a reception hosted by Queen Consort Camilla.

Sistah Space CEO Ngozi Fulani said that a Buckingham Palace staff member enquired about her “real” origin during the event on Tuesday, 29th November 2022.

Fulani made it clear that she was British, but it seems as though it was not enough: “I can see I am going to have a challenge getting you to say where you’re from,” the Hussey apparently stated.
The staff member has reportedly apologised for and stepped aside from duties for making “unacceptable and deeply regrettable” comments. If those comments are taken to be true, then they are very significant for the following reasons.
First of all, it would potentially suggest that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s claim in their Oprah interview that someone in the Royal Family had reservations against Archie’s skin colour could have been true.
Secondly, it may perhaps give some legitimacy to the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Foundation award that the couple are set to receive for speaking out against structural racism within the Royal Family.
Lastly, in any event, Hussey is Prince William’s godmother which is not a good look. The fans on social media were absolutely outraged by this revelation. And in the process of doing so, people demanded that the person be held accountable for this.
One person wrote: “This is disgusting. I hope she was reported,” while another person stated: “Struggling here not to type obscentities at the despicable and racist way in which you were treated.”
