Recently, fans would get to see Ricky Steamboat wrestle his first match in nearly a decade. The legend teamed with FTR to face Jay Lethal, Brock Anderson & Nick Aldis at a Big Time Wrestling event, and the match got generally favourable reviews – with many agreeing that Steamboat has barely lost a step. It was compared to the final match of Ric Flair from earlier this year, and even Flair agrees he could have done better.
Ric Flair Feels He Could Have Done Better On His Final Match, Praises Ricky Steamboat
On the latest episode of Ric Flair’s “To Be The Man” podcast, Flair would discuss his famous rivals return to the ring – and said that he could have done better in this Last Match, and agrees that Steamboat did fantastically. Flair had the following to say.
“When I spoke to him, we were trying to get him to work with us. He indicated to me back then that he didn’t think, health-wise, he was ready to do it. It’s what makes him feel good.
Like I say about myself, I could wrestle again right now too, and I’d be a lot better than I was in the Last Match because when you’re gone away that long you forget about little things that’ll make a difference and you spend too much time getting in shape for it that you don’t think about little things like dehydrating.
I was so into the training part that I forgot about little things. I think he should do what he wants to do. He’s Ricky Steamboat, there’s only going to be one Ricky Steamboat, whether it’s good or bad, it’s not going to affect his legacy. He’s the best babyface in the history of the business.”
Ricky Steamboat Could Appear In AEW
Right now, Flair is not expected to wrestle again – but Steamboat has an open offer from All Elite Wrestling to have a match on AEW Dynamite in the future. Steamboat was previously a guest timekeeper for the Best Two Out Of Three Falls match between Bryan Danielson & Daniel Garcia. He would also get involved with the Jericho Appreciation Society on that night, setting up a potential match.
