A royal expert has claimed that the purposeful release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s docuseries trailer was intended to detract from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s monumental US trip.

The couple dropped an intensely personal trailer for the $100 million series, showing several photos of the Duchess of Sussex crying.
In addition, fans also got an insight into the intimate nature of their relationship as a photo showed them kissing. This arrived in an amongst William and Kate’s US visit that was clouded by controversy.
William’s godmother Lady Susan Hussey resigned from the firm after facing backlash over repeatedly asking charity head Ngozi Fulani where she was from.
And as part of that process, William and Kate were booed as they attended a US basketball game. With that being said, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams felt that the timing of the trailer was designed to shine the spotlight on the Sussexes.
In his comments, he said: “[They] like to control their narrative. The timing draws attention away from William and Catherine’s visit to Boston, which is highly prestigious.
“William is launching the Earthshot Prize and meeting Biden, which is very very prestigious.” Those comments are entirely plausible. The Sussexes will have been aware for some time that William and Kate were set to come to the US for the Earthshot prize.
In addition, the trailer arrives following the conclusion of Meghan’s ‘Archetypes’ podcast on Spotify which will give the Sussexes further momentum when it comes to building their brand.
There is also the question of Harry’s upcoming memoir, Spare, that will hit the bookshelves in the New Year. And given what the trailer has shown, there is plenty for the firm to be worried about.
Richards’ following comments confirmed as much: “There’s one [photo] where Meghan looks distressed, what is the context behind that? What will they reveal about the way they believe they were treated by the Royal Family?”
