When Minoru Suzuki & Lance Archer were announced as a team for the World Tag League, many fans of Suzuki-gun thought this was already a won tournament. However, things have not gone as planned – with Suzuki & Archer coming into tonight’s show with just six points, their record split 3-3. If they want any chance to make the finals – tonight they must defeat Bishamon. Entering tonight with 8 points, Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI still have a chance to win back to back tournaments – but every match is a must win going forward.
Bishamon Have Troubles Getting Out Of The Gates
Suzuki & Archer would attack before the bell, with Suzuki pulling YOSHI-HASHI out to the floor as Archer stomped on Goto in the ring. A choke on the ropes would be followed by some trash talk from Archer, only for Bishamon to try to run him down with a shoulder tackle. This only served to stun Archer, giving enough time to beat Suzuki down with the War Drum.
Archer would take the War Drum next, but the clubbing blows did little to damage him – swatting away Bishamon once they were finished. Suzuki would take YOSHI-HASHI’s arm with the hanging armbar, before dragging him up the ramp and trying for the Gotch Style Piledriver but settling for a simple knee strike.
Back in the ring, Archer was beating Goto down – setting up a tag for Suzuki to put the pressure on his former rival with some stiff kicks. A knee strike to the jaw would be thrown in to keep Goto guessing, before some overhand chops in the Suzuki-gun corner. Archer got the tag and tanked the strikes of Goto, before whipping him hard across the ring and into the corner.
The crowd would get behind Goto as Archer hit a set of rushing elbow smashes. Archer would allow Goto to make the tag to YOSHI-HASHI, only to be cut down with a basement dropkick and the Headhunter. An attempt at a brainbuster would see Archer lifted, but not taken completely over.
Suzuki-gun Falls To A Violent Flash
YOSHI-HASHI would instead hit a dropkick to stun Archer – getting him into the corner with the help of Goto. Archer proceeded to hit a diving crossbody, wiping Bishamon out. Suzuki would follow up and hit a PK on Goto, getting a two count. Goto & Suzuki would trade heavy forearm shots in the middle of the ring – with Goto seemingly winning out before Suzuki just put a sick smile on his face and buckled the knees of Goto with a forearm smash.
Suzuki would go for the running big boot, only to be countered into a Russian Leg Sweep – with YOSHI-HASHI rushing in with the Headhunter. Shoto would be set, but Archer made the save. Archer would call for a play out of the old Killer Elite Squad playbook, setting up a Hart Attack with Suzuki.
Goto would be taken into the Sleeper Hold – Suzuki looking to simply choke him out. Once Goto went limp, Suzuki would try for a pinfall instead, going right back into the sleeper when Goto kicked out. Gotch Style Piledriver was set, with Goto fighting free with a back body drop.
Suzuki would quickly find the sleeper hold again, before being driven into the corner. Bishamon tried for Violent Flash, but Archer made the save. YOSHI-HASHI took Archer out with a low bridge before Violent Flash into Shoto for the victory. Bishamon were the underdogs tonight, but that suited them just fine – and they move to ten points.
