The finals of the WWE Smackdown World Cup is in the bag and Ricochet is your first winner. There are many storylines that could come out of this tournament so lets look at the future effect of what we saw over the last few weeks.
The Finals of the WWE Smackdown World Cup
In the final match of our tournament, we saw Ricochet hand Santos Escobar his first lost on the main roster in an amazing match on Smackdown. While I thought that they would’ve went with the new guy in Escobar, they went with the only remaining babyface with Ricochet.
While I understand the booking decision, I think that Braun Strowman would’ve been a better babyface to give a chance at GUNTHER’s Intercontinental Championship.
Not only have we already seen Ricochet lose to GUNTHER multiple times, he don’t have the record or recent wins to actually think that he could unseat GUNTHER.
Sure, he has three wins in a row, but many wrestlers on Smackdown do. Almost every time that Ricochet has a “big time” match, he comes up short, which is fine for a babyface, but after a certain number of times, us fans lose interest.
There is no doubt that GUNTHER vs Ricochet will be a great match. They always are. There is just nobody in their right mind that believe that Ricochet will be the one that wins.
Ricochet vs Braun would be a good feud. You know Braun has to be steaming over a tweet most likely being the reason that he lost but he will probably still get to face GUNTHER down the road even without the win.
I think Braun probably want his win back against Ricochet and just one win won’t do.
Lastly, I think that a Santos Escobar vs Butch feud could come out of this.
Butch is part of The Brawling Brutes, and because of the make up of the group, he is technically part of a tag team, but I think that he is more valuable as a singles star.
The quickest way to establish Butch as a singles star would be to give him some type of feud outside of what Sheamus is doing.
