Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, expressed her appreciation to listeners and voters after receiving a People’s Choice Award for her ‘Archetypes’ podcast on Spotify.
Meghan Markle Celebrates As Her Archetypes Podcast Wins ‘Pop Podcast of 2022’ At The People’s Choice Award-‘Your Support Means The World’
The £18 million agreement with Spotify looked to have paid off, as it picked up the title of ‘Pop Podcast of 2022.’ She had a range of guests appearing on the show, including Paris Hilton and Serena Williams.
Not only that, but she did raise a few eyebrows with some of the interactions. Meghan had caused offence when she referred to the accommodation on her royal tour of South Africa as a ‘housing unit.’
Meanwhile, she appeared to be taken aback when Mariah Carey referred to her as a ‘Diva.’ But for all the controversy that may have accompanied that podcast, Meghan was delighted by the award.
In her comments, she said: “Thank you to all the supporters and fans of Archetypes who voted for us for this special People’s Choice Award…Above all, huge thanks to each of you who voted. Your support means the world.”
Nevertheless, there are still some outstanding questions that need to be addressed. First of all, it is not exactly clear if there is going to be another season of the podcast. Therefore, this may not be the last time that we see Meghan.
Secondly, the fact that the podcast has received an award suggests that it did go down quite well. This may then encourage Spotify to come out with another deal to justify another season.
And yet, the social media response suggested that the award was not befitting. And in the process of doing so, people began to make scathing comments.
One person wrote: “She’s a pathetic, ego-centric, self-serving woman, intent on destroying Harry and his family. Far worse than Mrs Simpson.”
Regardless of what you think about Meghan, her podcast has gotten people talking one way or another. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
