Victor Stirs it up
Genoa City being swallowed up by an ice storm has been a blessing for many, but the Newman’s especially.
With nowhere to go, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and his son, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), have been forced to coexist under the same roof for the better part of the night. It’s allowed them t go at each other in what seems like an uncomfortable exchange of facts and ideas, with Adam taking the brunt of it.
But instead of running away, he stayed and earned a modicum of Victors respect. It allowed Victor to see something in Adam he’s been wanting to for a long time, but is it enough?
CBS The Young and the Restless Spoilers thinks so, but there’s another aspect that could be added. Especially if we want to take the episode description literally.
While installing Adam as the temporary head of Newman Enterprises could cause a bit of a ruckus (especially for Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) who doesn’t want Adam to run the company, but won’t help his family out), there is the possibility that Victor could use this as a bonding experience.
He could tell Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) that he’s staying as an advisor in the event Adam needs his advice and to keep an eye on him. It’d save him some of her vehemence for going back to work, but he could also do so from home, so she may allow it.
Adam would probably view it as a distrust on his father’s part, but also a chance to show Victor he can be counted on. It’d give both men the opportunity to see their own needs are met, as well as drive Nick crazy, which isn’t a bad thing.
Unfortunately for Adam, is appears Nick will change his mind and accept the CeO position. It’s safe to say this is entirely Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford)’s influence. How this will play out should make this a must see week.
Billy and Amanda, sitting in a tree…
Yeah, that’s a bit childish, but it also seems to fit.
They’ve been accused of being together for a while by Victor, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), and anyone that has an opinion, so it was only a matter of time.
But the thing is, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) deserve this. Assuming it is what we’re being led to expect. They’ve proven to be the perfect match, counter weights to each other’s stress and struggles. In a city where they’ve been ostracized by many for simply being friends, they’ve earned this moment.
Then there’s the aftermath.
While chances are they could be a really good couple and even push their way to the top of the show at some point, they’ll have to deal with the fallout first.
In Victor’s mind, as well in many others, the infidelity accusations will be justified. If they find out.
More likely, Billy and Amanda will probably face the struggle of breaking through the friendship barrier. She’s coming off an abusive relationship with Ripley Turner (Christian Keyes), and so his Billy, to a lesser extent. The differences between the two are there, since Ripley actively tried to kill Amanda, and Victor only threatened to do the same to Billy.
If two broken and betrayed people can heal each other, it’ll be one of the best stories on daytime television. If not, it could become one of the ugliest and would force the other Abbots to choose a side.
Everyone ready for another Abbott-Newman war?
CBS The Young and the Restless Spoilers would rather see the non-war scenario, but who knows what the writers are planning. We just think it’d be nice to see a flower sprout out of the cesspool surrounding Genoa City.
