Jon Moxley is fired up and ready to fight after losing his AEW World Championship, being betrayed by William Regal, and brawling with Hangman Page. He called for anyone to step up and fight him, and Konosuke Takeshita would gladly accept. Having signed an AEW contract – Takeshita is just as ready for a fight. They previously met back at Fyter Fest in July, which was a bloody encounter with Moxley coming out as the winner.
Jon Moxley & Konosuke Takeshita Waste No Time Getting Into A Fight
They’d kick off the show and waste no time getting into the action. Moxley would be forced into the corner with an elbow pressed into his face, before Takeshita allowed him to escape. Battling down to the mat, Moxley would look for an armbar, but was unable to get the full extension.
Takeshita would walk through a deadly chop from Moxley before trading chops in the middle of the ring. An attempt at the Paradigm Shift would be blocked, before this match would hit a standstill. Moxley would offer a handshake, only to slap Takeshita as he tried to accept it.
Takeshita would be forced into the corner where Moxley would bite him before some hard knife edge chops. Moxley would take an elbow smash before a hurricanrana which sent Moxley to the floor. Takeshita would dive over the top rope onto Moxley, as Don Callis watched from the skybox.
They’d brawl out into the crowd, where Takeshita was sat in a chair before being kicked in the face. Takeshita gave as good as he could get, kicking Moxley in the face at ringside and busting Moxley open. Back in the ring, Moxley would hit a quick cutter on Takeshita before a piledriver for a two count.
A second piledriver would be attempted, but Takeshita was able to break free and hit a back body drop. Takeshita would be sent over the top rope, but he’d work his way back in before a massive lariat rocked Moxley. The Takeshita Line would follow, causing Moxley to roll to the apron where he was planted with a DDT.
Fighting To The Bitter End
Moxley rolled back into the ring and took a slingshot DDT. Blue Thunder Bomb would be blocked into a Kimura Lock attempt, with Takeshita avoiding the hold by cracking Moxley in the side of the head with a knee strike. Moxley would nail the King Kong Lariat – before looking for the Paradigm Shift but being blocked.
Takeshita would nail a stiff knee to the jaw of Moxley before a Sheerdrop Brainbuster for a near fall. A ‘This is Awesome’ chant broke out in the arena as Takeshita looked to set up a superplex. Takeshita down thrown to the canvas face first before ending up in a Sleeper Hold – which he countered using the Blue Thunder Bomb for another near fall.
An elbow smash would be followed by a Deadlift German Suplex, with Takeshita going up top for the frog splash. Moxley would get his knees up to block before the Hammer & Anvil elbows. Death Rider would land, and Takeshita kicked out at one – leaving Moxley completely shocked. Fighting spirit was flowing, before Moxley hit a jumping knee strike.
Moxley would look to apply an armbar, but Takeshita was able to lock his hands to break free before stomping on the head of Moxley. Takeshita would take some kicks to the jaw, before some elbow smashes to the neck. Moxley would show his mean streak, and applied that Bulldog Choke as the crowd chanted ‘Don’t Give Up’ – only for Takeshita to pass out.
After the match, Hangman Page would hit the ring with a microphone in hand. Page would reveal he’s not currently cleared due to his previous concussion, and that gives him an excuse to not think straight. He’d punch Moxley in the face, before being thrown head first into the ring post.
