I can’t say I’d blame you at all for not realizing this… but it turns out that the 2020 iteration of the WWE Elimination Chamber is on tonight! The pre-show is finishing up as I type this! This evening Drew Gulak gets a rare opportunity to face Daniel Bryan on the main card of a PPV! That means recaps and results from the show as they come, plus previews of everything you can expect! As I said, the Kickoff is rolling on as I speak so let’s get a move on!
Daniel Bryan vs. Drew Gulak
Daniel Bryan has for weeks found himself beset with Drew Gulak. The man with the very high ring IQ has been trying to explain to Bryan the weaknesses that he’s found in his game, well over a hundred of them if you believe him. And to prove this, he’s sent the likes of Heath Slater and Curtis Axel after him. Obviously Bryan has dispatched of the both of them without much difficulty. However in all fairness, Heath did do better after getting Gulak’s advice than beforehand. And Axel actually did take the advantage on him for a few moments, which is more than anyone would ever expect.
The implication, to me, is that if Drew were actually working with someone competent, such as someone legitimately in the midcard, the advice he gave them might actually give them a shot at beating Daniel Bryan. Which does speak pretty well to his acumen. Gulak is of course a really good worker and is notably a Philly native, which means he gets to work in his hometown tonight. This should be a fantastic technical wrestling affair if allowed to be, and a fairly hot match as well. In spite of how clear the disparity in name value is here, it really could be a big sleeper match.
I believe that Bryan has been given the ability to name his own opponents of late and it really seems like he picked this one to try and get Gulak into a higher spot on the card. But in the end, of course, he’s not actually gonna beat him. Surely, Daniel Bryan over.
