On the occasion of the New Year, social media was abounding with praise for Queen Elizabeth II.
London Pays Tribute To Queen Elizabeth II To Celebrate 2023
The firework display over the River Thames included an emotional tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, and the London Eye was lit up with blue and yellow in support of Ukraine when the clock struck twelve in London.
An audience of over 100,000 individuals assembled at the Thames Embankment in London when Big Ben rang out in the English capital. At the same time, 12,000 fireworks lit up the night sky.
This spectacular show paid homage to the late Queen with a voice recording from her as well as words from Dame Judi Dench. The event also celebrated King Charles III with a message from the monarch himself about the importance of safeguarding the future of our world.
And by the looks of it, this went down very well on social media. One person wrote: “Beautiful fireworks, London did us proud. Rest in peace our beautiful Queen Elizabeth and long live our King Charles.”
While another person stated: “The very Best Ever London NYE fireworks EVER. Congratulations to everyone involved in making it happen.” Nevertheless, there are some major issues that the Royal Family will have to navigate in 2023.
First of all, Prince Harry’s memoir will come out this month. And if it does end up being condemnatory towards the firm, it may cast the current monarch in a negative light.
Secondly, with Charles’ Coronation in May, Harry’s book could do some damage in the run up to that. All the while, the current cost of living crisis may add further pressure on the monarchy with questions over whether the institution is still viable.
With 2023 here, the firm will have a chance to move on from what has been a difficult 2022 following Queen Elizabeth II’s death. Time will tell how the year pans out.
