Ndileka Mandela, the granddaughter of Nelson Mandela, does not understand why people are creating a huge fuss about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle citing quotes from the late social justice campaigner.
Nelson Mandela’s Granddaughter Backs Harry And Meghan Over Their ‘Live To Lead’ Docuseries
Harry and Meghan released their second collaboration with Netflix, titled “Live to Lead.” The docuseries highlights the work of various activists.
Nevertheless, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave credit to Nelson Mandela as the motivation behind their production.
But this did not go down well with some of the couple’s critics on the basis that they were seen as exploiting his name for the sake of promoting their own endevours.
In her comments, though, Ndileka said: “I’ve watched the first two episodes of this ‘Live to Lead. I honestly don’t find anything wrong with them using that opening thing inspirational with a quote of granddad.
“I just think that people are making a … mountain out of a molehill.” Ndileka highlighted the fact that Mandela began his political journey by engaging in “social activism” and connected it to the journey that Harry and Meghan are taking.
While that may have been the case, there is no denying that the Sussexes do appear out of touch when it comes to comparing them to Mandela.
This was seen when Meghan recalled a South African cast member of the Lion King allegedly telling her that people were rejoicing when she married into the firm, just as people had rejoiced when Mandela was released from prison.
The fans on social media, though, made their position very clear. Large numbers of people slammed the Sussexes on the basis that they came across as looking after their own interests. And in the process of doing so, the comments were very brutal indeed.
One person wrote: “The only humanity I can see Harry and Meghan serving is their own. They no nothing about commitment to humanity.”
So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
