In his newly-released autobiography, Prince Harry conveys how King Charles III would make cruel jokes regarding the identity of his true father, prompting the public to believe that it was Major James Hewitt, Princess Diana’s former lover.
Prince Harry Controversially Alleges That King Charles III Mocked Rumours Over Major James Hewitt Being His Father-‘He’d Laugh, Was Sadism’
The Prince affirms that Charles seemed to take pleasure in making hurtful remarks in regards to his lineage. In his book, Harry wrote: “He’d laugh and laugh.
“Though it was a remarkably unfunny joke, given the rumour circulating just then that my actual father was one of Mummy’s former lovers: Major James Hewitt.
“One cause of this rumor was Major Hewitt’s flaming ginger hair, but another cause was sadism.” Diana, the mother of the prince, was notoriously involved in a relationship with Hewitt for a period of five years which started with a chance encounter at a dinner party in 1986.
This affair between them caused a great stir around the world and Hewitt was seen in a negative light for his attempts to make money out of the love letters sent to him by the late princess, thus earning him the title of “Britain’s biggest cad”.
Harry commented that those who followed the tabloids were attracted to the concept that his dad was not Charles. This was one of the many revelations in his book, where he also revealed his opinion about his stepmother, Queen Consort Camilla, and the damage to his relationship with his brother, Prince William.
He relayed how William had hit him during a disagreement about his impending marriage to Meghan Markle and how they had both advised their father against marrying Camilla. The response on social media was clear.
A certain subset of people were of the view that Harry came across as though he was complaining. And in the process, the comments were very brutal indeed.
One person wrote: “The more I read the less respect I have for Harry. He seems like a bitter whiner, who’s lead around by the nose by his wife.”
