Prince Harry expressed his extreme anger towards Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, for publishing a book entitled “A Royal Duty” which divulged personal information about her after her death.
Prince Harry Accuses Paul Burrell Of Exploiting His Mother’s Death For Money-‘Harry Is Doing The Same Thing’
He felt that the butler was exploiting the tragedy to make money. Mr Burrell, aged 64, worked as a butler for Diana for a decade until her death in 1997.
He proclaimed that Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away at 96 in September, would be ‘very upset’ due to Harry’s revealing of intimate matters. But when Butler released his book, it attracted considerable denunciation from the Royal Family.
In his autobiography Spare, Harry recounts how he was made aware of the book when he was at the age of 19 in Australia in 2003 after he had left Eton.
He explains that he was given a package from Buckingham Palace, which was packed with documents from the Palace communication personnel.
Harry mentioned that he wanted to go back to his family’s house in order to confront Mr Burrell, but King Charles III and Prince William persuaded him not to, instead suggesting that they all express their collective disapproval.
In his memoir, Harry wrote: “Mummy’s former butler had penned a tell-all which actually told nothing. It was merely one man’s self-justifying, self-centring version of events.
“My mother once called this butler a dear friend, trusted him implicitly. We did too. Now this. He was milking her disappearance for money. It made my blood boil.”
The fans on social media, though, were not too receptive towards what Harry had to say. A certain subset of people began to accuse Harry of doing the same thing that he was accusing Burrell of doing.
One person wrote: “I agree.. It’s the only thing I can agree with Harry on…Although Harry is doing the same thing.”
