Since losing the NXT Tag Team Championships to The New Day, Pretty Deadly have done everything they’ve asked in hopes of getting another title shot. This mainly included a wild scavenger hunt of classic WWE items including Tyler Breeze’s selfie stick and The Rock’s eyebrows. Given this was proving to be literally impossible, Pretty Deadly made another suggestion to Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods. They would run the gauntlet to earn their title shot. Few teams in WWE history have more experience in this match type than The New Day, and should Pretty Deadly beat the teams ahead of them – they’ll get their well earned rematch.
Gallus Upset The Chances Of Pretty Deadly
They would handpick three teams, starting with a team coming out to The Rockers theme song. Shawn & Marty they were not, with Pretty Deadly running through the first team with spilled milk. The New Day would come out next to reveal the next two teams, giving Elton & Prince some actual top tag teams to defeat to earn their title shot.
First was Edris Enofe & Malik Blade, who gave Pretty Deadly issues during their reign as NXT Tag Team Champions. Enofe & Blade would hit the ring, cutting down Pretty Deadly with some quick strikes. Blade would find himself isolated in the Pretty Deadly corner throughout a picture in picture break, only for Enofe to get the tag and following a double cutter – got a near fall off the E-Trigger knee strike.
Enofe & Blade would go for the Power & Glory combo, the Superplex followed by a massive Diving Splash – but only getting a two count. Samoan Drop & Jumping Neckbreaker would follow, before an inside cradle. Wilson would shove Prince to put him ontop of the pinfall, for the fall.
The New Day would bring out Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen next… but they were taken down by former NXT UK Tag Team Champions, Gallus! Back from their suspension – they’d run down Pretty Deadly in rapid fashion, and got the winning fall, winning the Gauntlet Match. To the victor goes the spoils, and Gallus would look to The New Day for their title shot.
The Year Didn’t Start Until Tiffany Stratton Returned To Take Over The Brand
Following this match, NXT would celebrate the New Years ten days late with the drop of a fancy ball – all to welcome Tiffany Stratton back to the brand. Last seen during the Lights Out match with Wendy Choo. She would claim that in her first nine months on the roster, she picked up this business better than anyone else ever did before her.
Stratton has been watching NXT closely in her five months away, and watched as the roster tried and failed to fill the void she left. Now, she’s back and intends to shoot right to the top of the brand. It’s nearly impossible to deny her claims, and it could be a quick path to a championship match for Stratton.
