Joe Rogan Underrates Boxers And Believes They Are Far Less Dangerous Than MMA Fighters – ‘A Boxer Would Lose To An MMA Fighter In Two Rounds’

In a recent episode of his podcast, Joe Rogan told that boxers are far less dangerous than MMA fighters. He thinks that an MMA fighter would not take long to literally destroy a boxer. According to him, MMA fighters are far more complete fighters.

Boxing is the basic form of combat sports, dating back to the early 20th century. It is the basis for most combat sports we know today. However, it took a long time to gain popularity and become the giant entertainment industry it is today. Aside from time, it took some legendary personalities to participate to make it mainstream. Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, and Roberto Duran are just a few of the people that helped build the sport.

Meanwhile, MMA became popular about one century later than boxing. It took massive efforts from the likes of Joe Rogan and Dana White to force the sport and present it as something different than savagery. When people finally accepted it as a legitimate sport, it took a long time for them to settle down with it and start watching it. As Dana White says, to achieve this, he ‘hid’ the first UFC matches within a reality show. Then, it was the only way MMA could go on live TV.

While it’s clear that MMA fighters have numerous fighting skills, people still consider boxers the best strikers in combat sports. Nevertheless, boxing is one of the founding stones of all combat sports, including MMA.

Joe Rogan is a person that is in the sport of MMA for a very long time. It’s fair to say that he has a very broad knowledge of the sport. Being a black belt in both Taekwondo and Jiu-Jitsu, and having trained in wrestling, Muay Thai, and boxing, he could be considered a person with enough experience to speak on this matter.

In a recent episode of his podcast, the UFC commentator said that boxing cannot hold the credentials for possessing the leading strikers in combat sports any longer. With time it all changed, and now it is MMA that is the most complete combat sport. It has some of the best grapplers, wrestlers, and strikers as well.

“You might think that professional boxers are the most dangerous strikers. But they literally wouldn’t last two rounds.” – Joe Rogan told about a hypothetical fight between a boxer and an MMA fighter. ”They’d get their legs kicked out from under them. They’d get kneed in the body and elbowed in the face. Finally, they’d get cut up and clinched and thrown to the ground. It’s just a better style of fighting. This is the pinnacle of striking sports.”

No one can say that this statement doesn’t make sense. However, when it comes to pure punching power and striking, what would you say? Does MMA have better strikers than boxing?
