Despite the unfavourable comments made by Prince Harry about the British monarchy in his memoir Spare, a YouGov survey has revealed that a majority of the British people still have a positive opinion of the Royal Family.
Poll Shows Harry’s Memoir Has Failed To Damage The Monarchy As The Royals Remain Popular
According to the poll, 54 percent of people in Britain have a favourable opinion of the monarchy. The survey was conducted on 1,700 adults, which occurred when details of Harry’s book were being made public, including his allegation that Prince William physically assaulted him.
Even though the Royal Family wasn’t impacted by the book, the 54 percent of those who had a positive opinion toward the monarchy was slightly lower than the 60 percent in November.
YouGov’s survey showed the public’s perception of the Duke of Sussex, which revealed that only 26 percent of people had a favourable opinion of him and 64 percent had a negative opinion, was the lowest rating since they started monitoring the royals.
Harry’s popularity in the United Kingdom has been sliding downward, but this decline began to pick up speed at the start of 2020 when the Sussexes declared they were going to abandon their royal obligations.
As for other figures in the Royal Family, Prince William has also encountered a fall in his popularity rating, although he still remains popular with the British people.
A survey conducted by YouGov established that 69 percent of people are in favour of the Prince of Wales, down from the 77 percent when January began. The fans on social media were not surprised by the poll ratings.
Large numbers of people made it clear that there was no way back for Harry in light of his revelations. One person wrote: “Harry is finished in Britain.
“Doesn’t matter what Charles does or not do. After pulling that stunt on Catherine publishing her private texts, no way will William ever have anything to do with him.”
