Nobody can deny that it takes much talent, sweat, and training to achieve what he achieved. However, according to Mike Tyson, this doesn’t mean that he is automatically the best boxer ever.

Floyd Mayweather cemented his legacy as one of the best boxers to ever compete. Many boxing fans still consider him one of the best pound-for-pound boxers. Looking at his record and the boxers he fought, it is pretty impossible to disagree or deny his abilities. Statistically judging, Floyd Mayweather is also the most accurate boxer. However, does all this make him a great boxer?
There is one fact about Floyd Mayweather that maybe is one of the main reasons for his success. Money Mayweather is not shy to handpick his opponents. And he did it throughout his whole career. He also uses his negotiation techniques to pursue his opponents to accept fighting in a larger-than-usual ring. This might sound like it’s not a benefit only to Floyd Mayweather. It sounds like his opponents could benefit from it as well. However, Floyd Mayweather has a unique fighting style that works much better in a larger ring. His defense and his tactics require more free space, so he can perform better.
Mike Tyson recently had an interview with ESNEWS and he spoke about where he sees Floyd Mayweather in the list of all-time greats. To be short and direct about his opinion – he doesn’t see Floyd on this list.
“There are some people right, I don’t care how good they are, they are never going to be great. Even though they make money, they win titles, they aren’t going to be Julio Cesar Chavez.” – Mike Tyson told in an interview. “I don’t care how much money he has got. I don’t want to hear Floyd Mayweather Jr. talking shit about 50-0 and all that.”
It seems like Mike Tyson is not a big fan of Floyd Mayweather and his fighting style. In the past, he has given similar interviews as well.
“Don’t tell me about, ‘You’re the greatest fighter,’ with 50-0.” – Mike Tyson told on his podcast once. “You’re great, no doubt about it, but 50-0? Chavez had 90. He was fighting like, what? Eight times a year? Against whoever was in the rankings. He wasn’t picking, it was, ‘Whomever you want, come on.’”
