As per a Sotheby’s statement, during the final five minutes of the annual Royal & Noble sale, four bidders were competing for the item and it was eventually acquired by someone from Kardashian’s camp with a price tag that was more than double the original estimate.
Kristian Spofforth, who happens to be head of the organisation, had this to say: “We are delighted that this piece has found a new lease of life within the hands of another globally famous name.”
Kardashian, aged 42, is renowned for her passion for fashion. In 2022, she drew attention when she donned an outfit by Marilyn Monroe at the 2022 Met Gala.
This dress is recognised as the ‘Most Expensive Dress in the World and was introduced by Monroe when she sang to John F. Kennedy at his 45th birthday party in 1962.
A lot of people were critical of her wearing the iconic outfit, yet she insisted she was not responsible for causing any damage to the gown and returned it in pristine condition; the museum, which loaned the outfit to her, verified that the dress was not damaged.
The fans on social media began to make their stance very clear. A large proportion of people were of the view that the jewellery had been placed in very poor hands.
And in the process of doing so, they began to make ridiculing comments about the Kardashian. One person wrote: “She will trash that up the same way she did Marilyn’s dress.
“Money can’t buy you class,” while another person stated: “Btw Kim your still nothing. You could own all her belongings and still be the no one you are.”
