Since the unveiling of Prince Harry’s controversial autobiography, Spare, the public’s perception of him and Meghan Markle has declined rapidly in the United States.
Latest Poll Shows The US Has Turned Against Harry And Meghan Following The Former’s Memoir
The couple have seen their favourability ratings drop significantly since Harry openly criticised the Royal Family and shared intimate details about his personal life.
According to a poll of two thousand U.S. voters conducted in early December, Harry had a favourability rating of +38. This has since decreased to -7, with the same number of voters surveyed by Redfield & Wilton in mid-January.
Meghan’s approval rating has also declined, going from +23 in December to -13 in January. Additionally, the poll suggests that women are slightly less approving of Markle than men.
Finally, 44 percent of people surveyed disagreed with the Prince’s decision to disclose personal conversations with his family members in his book, while 26 percent said they thought it was the right thing to do.
This is despite the fact that Spare became the most popular non-fiction book ever sold on the day of its launch, taking the top spot on best-seller lists around the globe – including in the U.S, as reported by its publisher.
Much in the same way, in the UK, the polling conducted for MailOnline has revealed that a majority of people (56 percent) think that the couple should have all their royal titles taken away from them.
The response on social media was equally damning. People began to make it clear that the Sussexes were no longer relevant, as the attempts at rebranding had failed.
One person wrote: “On both sides of the pond public opinion has changed. No one wants to carry on being drip fed whinging comments from [a] very very very privileged couple.”
The Sussexes have a lot to do before the public’s perception changes, and there is no getting away from that. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
