Edge made his return to the ring for the first time in over 9 years at the Royal Rumble this year, to a massive ovation from the packed crowd. Wrestlemania 36 will be his first one back, and he will be facing Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match at the event. It will be happening under unique circumstances, happening with no live fans mostly from the WWE Performance Center. This is due to the outbreak of COVID-19, and Edge feels Wrestlemania will be a great help to dealing with fans stress about this.
Edge Is Happy Wrestlemania 36 Is Going Forward
While it could be deflating for your big return to Wrestlemania to happen without fans, but Edge just wants to help distract all the fans watching from home. In times like these, it is important for people to have something to escape into to ensure they remain sane. Having a constant like professional wrestling is helping keep morale up for workers and fans alike. There are some fans who feel shows should stop, but most are incredibly thankfully to have the distraction. Wrestlemania could serve to be the biggest distraction yet, which is the goal.
Its His ‘Responsibility’
Speaking with Metro.co.uk, he would discuss how he feels Wrestlemania will be important for fans.
‘As long we can try and be as responsible and as safe as we can, why wouldn’t we try and do this for everyone? As a performer, that’s what we want to do. If we can do that and if people watch and can have fun for a few hours then our mission is accomplished.’ He would also go on to say how this is what this job is all about.
‘Here’s how I’ve always looked at this job. My responsibility is to make you forget your responsibilities for two or three hours a day, or during that show That is a huge responsibility, and it’s a privilege. I don’t look past it. I didn’t have it for nine years. Now I come back, and the gravity of that responsibility is not lost on me. Sure, it’s entertainment. Yes, we’re jumping around in tights. But a time like this, it’s very, very important. I truly believe that.’
