Meghan Markle and her half-sister, Samantha Markle’s legal dispute does not look like it will impact the Duchess of Sussex too much.
Samantha Markle’s Legal Dispute Against Meghan Will Not Harm The Duchess-‘The American Public Has Already Formed Their Opinions’
Just last year, Samantha filed a lawsuit against the Duchess of Sussex accusing her of making untrue remarks to Oprah Winfrey during a 2021 interview.
The older sibling asserted that the former Hollywood celebrity had defamed her and intended to ruin her reputation. While that may have been the case, it appears that Meghan will be prepared to deal with whatever comes her way.
Annie Pace Scranton, who happens to be the CEO of Pace Public Relations, had this to say: “I don’t think this lawsuit will impact Meghan Markle’s image at all because the American public has, in large part, already formed their opinions about her.
“She’s said repeatedly that her priority is her family and doing good.” Samantha has not given up yet in her mission for the Duchess to confess that she was not telling the truth about their family history and background to promote a story about achieving great wealth and status.
She has challenged the Duchess’ claims of being an “only child.” Samantha also asserted that Meghan was wrong in saying her elder sibling adopted the surname Markle solely after Meghan started dating Prince Harry.
Doug Eldridge, an expert in celebrity branding, has stated that Meghan’s family has a reputation of being vocal, which may generate some sympathy.
Yet, he cautioned, eventually this will work against her. His following comments confirmed as much: “The problem is that this is not a viable long-term strategy in the context of victim marketing or victim branding, if you will.
“The problem is that it only goes so far. That’s not something that you can build a long-term brand on.” Time will tell how this dispute will play out moving forward.
