It’s just about a wrap for Dustin Rhodes as he will retire this year. His career started in 1988 and he has never held a World title despite typically being the guy to polish future champions in their development. Rancid guitarist/vocalist Lars Frederiksen voiced his feeling that Dustin Rhodes should get a shot at the AEW World title before his retirement.
Lars Frederiksen of the Band Rancid Says Dustin Rhodes Deserves an AEW World Title Shot Before His Retirement
Frederiksen’s statement was a response to Rhodes looking at his career and thanking the fans for their support. A long-time wrestling fan, Frederiksen and others know this is a sign that a wrestler is getting ready to call it on their career.
With that said, Rhodes has shown in recent years that he still has a motor in-ring and can still deliver the goods. AEW owner Tony Khan believes that Dustin Rhodes can keep going past 53.
World title shot. I wanna see what you deserve.

The thing here would be putting the veteran in position for the match and it not seeming purely like a feel-good bout or a reward match. The thing is that it wouldn’t be unexpected for AEW to just run a Dustin title shot on Dynamite with just an announcement of the match.
Do you see Dustin Rhodes getting a title shot before the year is out? Even further: do you see him winning the ROH World title if given another shot? Let us know in the comments.
