The communities that have raised funds for families who lost their homes due to the destructive earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have been commended by Prince William and Kate Middleton.
William And Kate Raise Funds For Turkey And Syria
Middleton attended an event at the Hayes Muslim Centre in London. And as part of that process, representatives from the center, who have collected donations exceeding £25,000 for the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal through prayer and bucket collections, met with the couple.
During a difficult time, the Prince and Princess teamed up with two students from Waldegrave School named Dila Kaya (14) and Lina Alkutubi (15) along with their teacher Natasha Rustam to create an origami crane.
The couple was informed by aid workers who had recently come back from Turkey’s crisis area about the distressing incidents they had witnessed. The workers narrated desperate situations where rescuers were using hammers to free trapped individuals.
They were also briefed on the significance of the aid being provided, including shelter, food, and trauma care, and how the disaster has affected vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
They also interacted with other communities who have made significant efforts to fundraise as part of the appeal. In her comments, Kate said: “It’s sad that there’s a need to do funding.
“It’s amazing there are communities like this here raising (funds). The public on social media came out in droves in order to praise Kate. This was on the grounds that she was going the extra mile to help those in need.
One person wrote: “She is a lovely, beautiful, kind hearted REAL PRINCESS!! I absolutely thank the All Mighty every day.”
Kate’s actions clearly resonated with the public and hopefully that can go some way to raising awareness over this issue.
