In some mixed news, it appears that WWE is looking to run the Hall of Fame ceremony shorter this year. The WWE Hall of Fame tends to kick off leading into WrestleMania and inductees are announced along the way.
WWE Expected to Keep the 2023 Hall of Fame Ceremony Shorter—Rey Mysterio Only Inductee Confirmed So Far
However, the only person mentioned so far is Rey Mysterio. Currently, there is plenty of speculation with Dave “Batista” Bautista and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson being the primary names mentioned. Perhaps, the goal is to run it as an induction ceremony and less like an awards ceremony where potential recipients are announced.
In previous years, WWE released the Hall of Fame inductees over the weeks as if fans were either going to skip on the event or show up because of the names announced. Again, it’s a wrestling Hall of Fame and not a wrestling event—these folks aren’t going to wrestle each other in tuxedos and gowns on stage.
Another benefit to this is that it gives WWE time to find the proper inductors. Finally, if the company is taking this from mystery to surprise, it can change the scale of the event and induct superstars with significant achievements within the company. Or WWE can induct whomever without criticism until the induction has been done.
What is known is that the WWE Hall of Fame always features one or two “main event” inductees, and The Rock and Batista are two big names. With those two either have schedule commitments or being up in the air, it will be interesting to see what major names from the past three WWE eras will go in.
