WWE icon John Cena is still scheduled for WrestleMania 39 following the huge reception he received during his return to the company. Being scheduled for WM39 also means that he is onboard for the Road to WrestleMania with his foe Austin Theory.
John Cena Will Remain Onboard with WWE Heading Into WrestleMania 39
The groundwork for Cena versus Theory had been laid for years since Cena’s 20th anniversary back in June 2022. Following that, the two continued going back and forth here and there on social media, teasing a future match. With this came comparisons between Austin Theory and John Cena as well as the fact that the “Doctor of Thuganomics” was his inspiration to become a wrestler.
It’s poised to be a dream match for the 25-year-old and similar to Bayley being across the ring from her inspiration Lita at WrestleMania 39. Ultimately, this means that we could be seeing the last run of Cena as an active superstar as he’ll be television to build up the WM39 showdown. It would also be a good time to get in a memorable, strong match and storyline in before that march towards his final match in the company.
While he will be involved with WWE broadcasts, John Cena will split his time working on the action-comedy Grand Death Lotto. A question for our readers: who should be Cena’s opponent? Should be a torch-passing match with someone from this generation or one of his contemporaries from the Ruthless Aggression Era?
