On Monday, 13th March 2023, during her speech at the 52nd Annual Juno Awards, Avril Lavigne was interrupted by a protester who was topless.
Avril Lavigne Tells Topless Protestor To ‘Get The F— Off B—-‘
The Juno Awards, which are Canada’s answer to the Grammy Awards, are awarded by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to acknowledge the exceptional musical accomplishments of Canadian artists.
During a performance by Canadian-Punjabi singer AP Dhillon at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Canada, a woman appeared on stage unexpectedly.
The woman, dressed in pink sweatpants and a matching headscarf, was topless while the star was introducing the singer’s performance.
During her speech, Avril noticed the other woman who had heart-shaped pasties covering her breasts and had various messages written on her arms and back, such as “save the green belt,” “stop logging old growth now,” and “land back.”
Initially, she chose to disregard the woman with the pasties and carried on with her speech. In the end, Lavigne faced the person who had crashed onto the stage.
The intruder was moving around the singer while gesturing with her arms and hands, prompting Lavigne to confront her. In response, Avril said: “Get the f— off,” the eight-time Grammy nominee told the protester. Get the f— off b—-“
That raised a lot of talking points for the following reasons. First of all, Avril was lucky that she did not suffer any personal harm, as who knows what could have happened on any other given day had things escalated.
We only have to look at Will Smith’s slapgate incident against Chris Rock. Secondly, once the dust had settled down, Avril let everyone know that she was not going to tolerate this kind of behavior.
When Lavigne won her fourth fan choice award, she made a reference to an incident that had occurred earlier in the night. She began her acceptance speech with a humorous cautionary statement.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “Now, nobody try anything this time, or the Canadian is going to come out of me, and I’ll f— up a b—-.” The response on social media was full of praise for Avril.
Large numbers of people felt she did the right thing in putting the protestor in her place. One person wrote: “Love it! This should be every person’s response to every Woketard activist wherever they are encountered.”
So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
