According to police records, Nick Lachey was charged with assaulting and battering a paparazzi named Jody Santos in 2022.
Nick Lachey Forced To Attend AA And Anger Management Following Paparazzi Attack
As a result of his actions, he has been told to attend anger management and AA meetings. While he did not receive any formal punishment initially, Santos continued to hassle the Beverly Hills Police Department for months until action was taken.
In an official statement on behalf of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, a representative said the following: “As part of these conditions he must participate in anger management classes and attend Alcoholic Anonymous meetings.
“Successful completion of the Prefiling Diversion Program will result in no criminal charges being filed.”
In the previous year, Santos witnessed Lachey and his spouse, Vanessa Lachey, departing from Mastro’s eatery in Beverly Hills. Nick also noticed the paparazzi positioned in her automobile on the opposite side of the road taking pictures.
In response, Nick became extremely angry, rushed to her car, and attempted to snatch the photographer’s camera and phone. In response to this, Santos remarked: “In all my years of photographing celebrities, no one has ever tried to hit me.
“He then started punching the window. I thought he was going to break his hand; that’s how hard he was hitting the glass. I am surprised he didn’t shatter the window.”]”
According to Santos, if she hadn’t closed her window on time, Nick would have hit her. She firmly believes that Nick was given a penalty only after she accused the district attorney’s office of giving him special treatment.
Nick stated the day after the altercation that the photographer had harassed him, but acknowledged that he had reacted excessively.
The following comments confirmed as much: “Last night, after enjoying a great dinner with my wife and our dear friend, the paparazzi harassed us as we walked back to our hotel.
“I clearly overreacted. I’ve been in this game long enough to know that their antics are sadly part of the deal. Stupid of me. Done.”
The response on social media was very clear. Large numbers of people agreed that Nick’s conduct had crossed the line regardless of whether he felt that he had seen his privacy had been violated.
