The competition watches each other’s product whether it’s to bite something, scout some talent, or just to know what not to do. AEW commentator/coach and WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry gave his take on heated frenemies Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn reconciling—and he loved it.
WWE Hall of Famer and AEW Commentator-Coach Mark Henry Loved Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn Burying the Hatchet and Reuniting
Owens and Zayn burying the hatchet was initiated by Cody Rhodes but was the latest chapter in The Bloodline storyline. In that lengthy story, we’ve seen Kevin Owens fall prey to both the Roman Reigns-Paul Heyman tandem and The Bloodline as a whole—which included friend/rival Sami Zayn. We’ve also seen Zayn’s dicey relationship with the rest of The Bloodline before being booted from the group.
Now there’s been hints of blood dissent in the ranks of the group. However, you had two people who should’ve teamed up for the best odds of taking down The Bloodline: Sami and Owens. What made their reconciliation so powerful was how lengthy and spiraling their relationship had been in WWE dating back to NXT.
They have been enemies, tag partners, enemies again, and now they’re allies. Getting to that stage to where they could at least be allies again is huge and required a Kevin Owens who had changed his ways—for now. It so required an orphaned, sympathetic Sami Zayn who had participated in heinous acts against Owens, making him the one who needed to work towards forgiveness.
History and WWE acknowledging this long-running story really made this part of the Bloodline angle pop. While on Busted Open Radio, Mark Henry pretty much echoed those sentiments:
“There’s very few times you get the feel-good moment to where it makes you almost cry. Like the movie when the dog saves the baby. It’s just like Disney, you know? The Disney finish! That was the Disney finish last night, man. I found myself going [deep breath] ‘Whoa, that was heavy.’ It was redemption, It was forgiveness, It was grace. Mercy.” (h/t: Wrestling Inc)
