Former WWE, WCW, and TNA creative talent Vince Russo has some words for fellow WCW and TNA alumnus Jeremy Borash. The two began their friendship in 1999 when Russo was brought in to assist with WCW’s creative direction and Borash was brought in to bolster the company’s online presence via an internet radio show—a similar path to Russo getting in with WWE years earlier.
Vince Russo Slams Triple H Assistant Jeremy Borash After Being Ghosted
According to Russo, he took Borash under his wing. It was also useful to WCW as the two would need to work together for Borash to get the company’s news and events out to a wrestling audience that would embrace the internet in the following decade.
After WCW closed, Russo would have a short return to WWE before being brought on board for TNA’s creative staff. Meanwhile, JB had gone through the WCW spin-off/proto-TNA promotion WWA before joining TNA’s backstage staff as well as a backstage interviewer.
Basically, there were parallels in their careers and their paths always crossed in the business up until Russo’s last TNA run.
According to Vince Russo, his friendship with JB changed once the latter joined WWE and worked his way up to being a confidant and assistant to Triple H—or as Kevin Nash called him: his “right-hand man.” It’s a role that comes with its own power and responsibilities. Borash’s years of experience behind the scenes with TNA put him in that role in part because he handled his work backstage for a long time in one company.
It’s pretty difficult to gauge someone’s loyalty to a company when they’re here and gone every few years. That’s not exactly the person you make a right-hand man.
The tipping point for the relationship was a perceived snub where Borash didn’t return Russo’s text after a song they both enjoyed—”Grandma’s Feather Bed” by John Denver—came on the radio. Russo said that the song prompted him to contact Borash but he got no answer back.
Now, this gives an idea into their relationship—or at least how Russo perceived it—as this was concerning to an architect of the Attitude Era. Apparently, JB is quick to return texts from Russo only for that to change once he got deep into WWE’s inner workings.
It also comes as Russo has been going hard on WWE’s creative direction as well as its backstage and corporate culture for years. In a quote from the above Sportskeeda program Legion of Raw, Russo said this to JB:
“I’m going to quote the great Vic Venom here, ‘Bite me.’ Everything I ever did for you, bro, throughout your freaking career, bro, and now because you and Trips are engaged or married. I don’t know, maybe you were the other woman in the relationship when it was a rocky road with him and Stephanie. I don’t know. But the fact that you can’t even answer a text. What bro? If you answer a text from Vince Russo, you’re going to get heat with Trips. Or do I have heat with you, bro? Because you’re Trips’ right-hand man, and I come on here every week and laugh at your show. It’s laughable, bro.” (begins around 10-minute mark)
What do you make of this situation? Is Jeremy Borash ditching or distancing himself from Vince Russo because of his statements about WWE? Or did he simply miss a text about a song they both dig and forgot to reply? Share your thoughts in the comments.
