WWE WrestleMania 36 is now almost over. We are now down to the Main Event, with Drew McIntyre challenging Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. They come eye to eye in an intense staredown as the ring announcements are made.
WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
Lesnar with a kick at the bell, takes Drew into the corner, shoulder thrusts pound him hard! Drew reverses a corner whip and there’s the Claymore Kick for a nearfall! Drew to the corner, stalks, charges for another but Brock dodges it, German Suplex nailed! Wants a second, Drew holds onto the rope, but Brock pulls him away and there’s the second German! Drew tries to pull himself up and stay stable in the corner, Brock pummels him and then tosses him across the ring with a third German Suplex! Hoists him up and there’s the F-5! Kickout at 1! Brock looks stunned. Brock pulls Drew from the mat, and there’s the second F-5 and it gets a 2 count! Drew fights to his feet, Brock hoists him up and drops him with a third F-5… very narrow kickout!! Paul says “He’s good, he’s really good, hit him again! Keep on doing it all night long! He can’t keep kicking out!”
Brock makes an actual gorilla-style grunt and comes up, cackling. Says all night long, you wanna do this? Hoists him for an F-5 but Drew escapes, Claymore Kick! Stalks immediately as Lesnar rises, a third Claymore! And there’s the fourth Claymore Kick and that is that he pins Brock Lesnar!
Winner: Drew McIntyre
Tied Braun/Goldberg for finishers then, seven for both. McIntyre hoists up the WWE Championship and lets out an impassioned cry. And another atop the middle rope and that’s that for the two-night WrestleMania.
Well. Well… all in all I think it’s fair to say that they tried their best. Everyone worked super hard. There were definitely some unique and special moments, some genuinely really good matches, very different matches that you’ll never see in WWE in any other situation… at the end of the day, it’s not really WrestleMania. I mean they condition you to see WrestleMania as big stadiums, pomp and circumstance and tens of thousands of fans and they weren’t gonna have any of that. But taken for what it is, a pretty fun weekend of entertainment, atleast for me.
