AEW Dynamite rolls on. We get a Rankings Report going through the tag, women’s and singles men’s divisions. Jon Moxley says he and Jake Hager are not in the business of putting smiles on people’s faces and promises their fight will be violent. Hager says he fights for his family, people he actually cares about. He doesn’t want to be champion for the love of sport, he wants to be champion because it pays more. Hager’s wife says this is a house of winners and if Hager doesn’t win, he doesn’t come home. That’s their motto, apparently. His coach says his dedication to be the best separates him from everybody else. Moxley says he’s not ashamed to say that he kind of likes feeling another man’s skull get smashed.
Hager says when he saw Moxley holding up the AEW Championship he knew it wasn’t going to last.
But he didn’t know it’d be him stopping him. His coach guarantees that he’s in the best shape he’s ever been in, training harder than he ever has in his life and the time has come for him to be champion. Jake says this was never supposed to happen. It wasn’t announced but he was going to have a fight with Bellator on May 9th. They don’t go further into that but this would’ve potentially prevented him being in the wrestling ring anytime soon as he would’ve needed several weeks to prepare for that fight. Moxley recalls having dropped every single person in AEW with the Paradigm Shift, only to find Hager popping up like a zombie to get him into the ankle lock. However he notes that this being a No Holds Barred match makes it pretty different.
Hager says he wants to be AEW World Champion and Bellator Heavyweight Champion. Moxley says this could go three minutes or thirty, but either way, bell to bell, it’s gonna be hell ’cause he’s in there with an animal. Hager’s wife says that most people could never do wrestling and MMA at the same time, it’s not something you just wake up and decide to do. So the fact that he can do it is extremely impressive and can’t be denied.
After defeating Chris Jericho at AEW Revolution, Hager is now the only member of the Inner Circle that Jon Moxley has not defeated. He will get the chance to complete the gauntlet next week.
