Ruby Soho is looking for redemption, and is well on the way after finally defeating Britt Baker. Now, she makes her way to the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament for the second year in a row, and now just needs to crush a former friend in Willow Nightingale.
Their friendship is shattered beyond repair, with Soho firmly standing with The Outcasts – and finding success with them behind her. They already hold the AEW Women’s World Championship, and adding the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament to their trophy case will only cement their status as a dominant faction.
Ruby Soho Looks To Redeem A Major Loss From 2022
Soho would pay tribute to Hart with her jacket, with “It’s Time For A Change” written on the back. She left The Outcasts in the back, wanting to prove she can win on her own skills in such an important match. Willow would flaunt the early power advantage – blocking the arm drag attempts from Soho and driving her down with a shoulder tackle.
Soho would hit some quick strikes on Willow, before taking a series of suplexes – ending with a Fisherman Suplex for a two count. Willow would be caught with a series of knee strikes in the ropes, before the cross arm clutch. Soho would yell that the trophy belongs to her – before hitting a big back elbow smash to the face.
Willow tried to hit a Death Valley Driver, but Soho slipped off the shoulders and sent Willow head first into the mat. Running hip attack would miss in the corner, allowing Willow to make the comeback with the Enziguri. Soho would try for Deadly Nightshade in the corner, only to be caught with the Smile Stampede for a two count.
Willow Nightingale Is The Babe With The Power
Willow was caught in a Victory Roll for a two count, but was quickly caught with a spinebuster. The Single Leg Boston Crab would be applied – a favourite of Calgary’s own Lance Storm. Soho would fight free, but grabbed the spray paint – trying to plant it in the hands of Willow.
This would distract the referee, allowing a rake to the eyes before the No Future Kick for a two count. Soho would use the paint a second time, but missed the spray and took The Pounce. Babe With The Powerbomb followed – and Willow Nightingale has won the 2023 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament!
She would celebrate with AEW CEO Tony Khan, and was presented with the trophy – an amazing moment for Willow. This tournament allowed her to rebound from losing the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship, and the back to back wins over Athena & Soho will do wonders for her confidence.
All Rise For The Kings Of The Black Throne
While House of Black currently hold the AEW World Trios Championships – the tag team of Brody King & Malakai Black started it all. Tonight, fans once again realise why The Kings Of The Black Throne are to be feared. Julia Hart would stare down the opponents from ringside, holding the mask of Andrade El Idolo.
King would chop down opponent #1 before throwing him into a tag. Opponent #2 threw a kick, and King laughed at it. Black got the tag and hit a stiff leg kick before the inside cradle into a kneebar. King prevented the interference before hitting a big running senton, before whipping opponent #1 across the ring with a hip toss.
Black hit a German Suplex, and Andrade came to the stage. A Black Mass kick in the ring would get the win – all while Black locked eyes with Andrade. We can expect them to collide soon – as Andrade wants his mask back.
