Earlier tonight, we would see an in-ring confrontation of CM Punk & Ricky Starks. While Punk isn’t mad that Starks had to cheat to beat him last week, he questioned how Starks will handle that information going forward.
Darby Allin & Christian Cage would get involved, and now – we have a tag team match. Punk will team with Allin, and Starks with Cage – putting many big egos in one small ring.
CM Punk & Darby Allin Have Fast Tag Team Chemistry
Starks & Cage would argue on who would start the match against Punk, with the referee almost counting them out as they couldn’t decide.
Punk would start with Starks and roll him up for a two count, before Cage was forcibly tagged into the ring. Cage would be sent over the ropes with a hip toss, before punched in the corner by Punk.
Punk would catch Cage with a quick hip toss before Allin was tagged in to continue the work on the arm. We’d see some chemistry from Allin & Punk as a tag team, forcing Cage & Starks to work together. They’d briefly corner Punk, but were unable to maintain the advantage after miscue.
Cage & Starks were sent to the floor – with both Punk & Allin diving onto them. Punk would tie up the legs of Cage in the middle of the ring before being driven into the corner. Starks got a cheap shot to lure Punk to the floor, with Cage taking advantage with a baseball slide dropkick.
Punk would be isolated by Starks & Cage, their tag team chemistry building by the second. An abdominal stretch would allow Starks to hit a diving punch to the ribs, before hitting some big chops on Punk and setting up a suplex. Punk would block into the O’Connor Roll – getting a two count.
Watching this match from up in the stands is former TNT Champion Scorpio Sky, who is hoping to regain his belt. Punk would hit a Swinging Neckbreaker on Starks to finally open up a tag, with Allin hitting only to be met by both Cage & Starks. A stunner dropped Cage, before a Code Red got a two count on Starks.
Darby Allin Fights Valiantly
Starks & Cage were sent to the floor and Allin would dive onto Starks. He’d try to do the same to Cage, but TNT Champion Luchasaurus was there as a human shield – with Allin hitting him hard but doing no damage. Cage would throw Allin into the announce table, before serving him to Starks in the ring. Snake Eyes would stagger Allin for a big running lariat – getting a two count.
Cage would tag in and beat down Allin, throwing him out to the floor to try for a count out victory. Allin was able to break the count before Starks met him in the ring with a big backbreaker. Starks has leaned back into his old heel tactics, and would taunt in the middle of the ring as Allin tried to regain control.
Cage would get the tag and jumped off the top rope with the diving headbutt, but was unable to connect. Starks would be instructed to head across the ring and pull Punk off the apron, ensuring that Allin was legal for a while longer.
Punk would quickly find his way back to the corner and get the tag, and would hit a combination bulldog and lariat.
Pepsi Twist would get a near fall on Cage, before Punk went to the top rope for the diving crossbody. Cage would roll into a pinfall on impact, but was unable to get more than a two count.
Punk would stop Cage on the top rope with a right hand, and sent him down with a back body drop, before following down with the diving elbow drop. Allin would hit the ring alongside Starks, taking the Spear & Roshambo – but managing to kick out.
Ricky Starks Eyes The TNT Championship
Cage would take a Go To Sleep on the floor, while in the ring Allin tried for the Coffin Drop. He’d be stopped by Luchasarus, before Starks would again use a rope assisted roll up to get the win, pinning Allin for the tag team victory. Starks has now scored back to back victories over CM Punk, and just pinned the number one contender to the TNT Championship.
He’d head up the ramp with Cage & Luchasaurus, showing a look of disgust as Cage held up the belt that Luchasaurus won. Starks would be the last to head to the back, and might be eyeing the TNT Championship with his own intentions.
There is time before Allin gets his shot at All Out, and with Starks & Sky eyeing the belt – things could get very interested. That is all for this weeks AEW Collision, check back next Wednesday for more live coverage of All Elite Wrestling.
