At the end of the most recent episode of Smackdown Live, we saw Universal Champion Braun Strowman defeat Shinsuke Nakamura, only to be interrupted as he celebrated this win. This was by an episode of The Firefly Funhouse, hosted by Bray Wyatt. In this segment, he explained that The Fiend wants the Universal Championship back, and that considering Bray Wyatt created Braun Strowman, he should just give the championship up to him. This makes it very clear that Strowman will be facing The Fiend as his first challenger, can he defend his championship?
The Fiend Is Defeatable, Provided You Don’t Let Him In
Over the short history of The Fiend, a few things are understood about him and his methods. If he gets in your head, you are done. This is clear from his feuds with Seth Rollins and John Cena, where The Fiend got the mental advantage and it became impossible to defeat him. On the other hand, should you stay strong mentally and not get intimidated, he is still mortal. This was made clear during his feud with Daniel Bryan, who took The Fiend to the limit, after not letting the mind games get to him, but he wasn’t enough. Goldberg took this to the next level, by defeating The Fiend after showing no fear in the face of this entity.
Braun Strowman Showed No Fear On Smackdown Live
Due to the sheer rush of confidence that comes with being one of the few people in history to cleanly defeat Goldberg, Braun Strowman showed zero fear when it came to Bray Wyatt. Perhaps he realized that if he could beat the man who beat The Fiend, he should have no problem in this coming battle. He knows Wyatt better than any of the previous victims of The Fiend, being a long time member of The Wyatt Family, who left the group on good terms. Wyatt made Strowman into the Monster Among Men, cultivated his talents and then set him loose on the roster. This might now come back to haunt Wyatt, as Strowman has become someone to fear, and someone who fears no one.
This match is likely to happen at the Money In The Bank PPV in May, which as of right now is likely to happen at the WWE Performance Center or Full Sail Univeristy, the two venues WWE is able to run at this point.
