House of Black have been hard to top as a trio in AEW, but tonight – they might have finally met their match. It was announced last week on AEW Collision that they would defend against CMFTR – aka CM Punk and the AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR.

Since his return, CM Punk has made Collision his home, and has dubbed himself ‘The Real World Champion’ – and tonight has a chance to also be the AEW World Trios Champion alongside his closest friends.

Buddy Matthews would start the match with CM Punk, locking up hard in the middle of the ring before driving Punk into the corner. Punk would get a headlock applied and held on tight, before tagging in Cash Wheeler.

A trade of side headlock takeovers would follow, some good ol’ fashioned wrestling as this trio’s match got started. Harwood would bring some chops into the match, before taking Matthews to the mat for a leg drop.

Matthews would tag out to Brody King – the bruiser of House of Black. King would force Harwood into the corner for a flurry of hard strikes, and Harwood would come back just as hard – taking King to a knee before a sliding knee strike. FTR would work together on a double dropkick to send King to the floor, with Malakai Black calming him down.

Black would tag into the match and stared down Punk in the ring – with Punk being taken to the mat and narrowly avoiding a PK. Punk would duck a roundhouse kick, before taking a knee to the jaw.

Go To Sleep was attempted by Punk, with Black slipping off his shoulders before trying for The End – with Punk dodging and sitting cross legged. Black would match this – and we’d end up with a six man brawl as FTR, Matthews & Kings got into the ring.

At ringside, it was total chaos – with CMFTR coming out on top. Black & Punk would get into the ring, as FTR would be called back to the corner.

Harwood got the tag and traded strikes with Black, before Matthews ran him down with a shoulder tackle. King would get the tag and physically overwhelmed Harwood, and isolated him in the House of Black corner.

CMFTR Fights Valiantly Against House Of Black

Harwood would manage to catch Black with a quick DDT, allowing a tag to Punk. Matthews would be hit with a Swinging Neckbreaker in the ring, before a stiff roundhouse kick.

Go To Sleep would be countered once again, before Punk hit the Pepsi Twist. Julia Hart would distract the referee, allowing Black to pull Punk off the top rope – noticing him lingering before the diving elbow drop.

King would follow up by hitting a rolling cannonball on Punk, before taking him to the floor and chopping him into the crowd. Punk would be drug back into the ring, where Matthews was ready to keep the attack going on.

House of Black were playing this game perfectly, proving why they are the longest reigning AEW World Trios Champions. The ring was cut clean in half, and Punk would not be able to last much longer.

A running knee strike to the jaw of Punk would land, before Matthews would mock Punk by signalling for the Go To Sleep – only to take a Go To Sleep from Punk. Matthews made the tag to King as Wheeler would hit the ring, cutting him down using a dropkick before a snap powerslam would land.

FTR would drive King from the ring, and launch Matthews onto him. Wheeler would dive to the floor next, and King was rolled into the ring for the diving bulldog. FTR tried for a double suplex, but King would hit a double DDT on the tag team champions himself.

Samoa Joe Gives CM Punk No Choice But Revenge

King would be set up for the double superplex by FTR, with Punk following with the diving elbow drop – managing a two count. A three man Shatter Machine would follow, before Matthews dove off the top rope with a Metoera on Wheeler.

Harwood hit a brainbuster, before taking a knee strike from Black. Punk took Black to the floor and hit the Suicide Dive, as Harwood hit the flying headbutt.

On the floor, Samoa Joe would choke out CM Punk – making true on his promise from earlier in the night. Punk was out cold, and Julia Hart had distracted the referee while this happened. King would hit a massive lariat in the ring, and pinned Harwood for the win.
