Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor is back in the gym, but he won’t be preparing for the Octagon. In a recent interview, McGregor revealed that he has returned to the sweet science to help an old training partner prepare for a novelty boxing match.
Bellator’s Dillon Danis is set to box YouTuber-wrestler Logan Paul, and Danis has recruited McGregor to help prepare him for the transition from the mat to the squared circle.
Conor McGregor Training Dillon Danis Ahead of Logan Paul Fight
McGregor took issue with Paul’s attempt to bill Danis in the event that he, as he has done so frequently in the past, pulls out of the fight. “Dillon will win, for sure.
They’re already backtracking, they’re walking out on it. I’ve known Dillon for years, trained with him many times, helped him. I’m guiding him. I’m training him for this, and I guarantee a win.
I hope the lad shows up. He tried to put a bill on us if we don’t show up – we’re going to put a bill on him if he doesn’t show up.” Danis also took to X (or, as most of us still call it, Twitter) to call Paul out on his shady tactics:
“I’m fully committed to this fight and have been carrying the whole card’s promotion on my back. The Pauls and I have had beef since forever. Just imagine how you’d feel. Jake attacked my ex, fabricated stories about me impregnating someone, attacked my best friend’s fiancée.
Logan ridiculed me for years, attacked Floyd’s wife, filmed a deceased person, scammed millions. KSI went after my mom, the list goes on.
Now I finally get to settle our feud, and this whole thing is complete bullshit—we both have a signed contract. This isn’t a tennis match; this is the fight business.”
McGregor also claimed that he will be heading into fight camp himself, presumably in preparation for a long-awaited match with his opposite coach on this season of The Ultimate Fighter, Michael Chandler.
“For sure, [I’ll train him], I’m getting into camp myself after this. Get our team organized, and I’m going to bring Dillon on board.
I was training with him when I was in New York. I was in New York for about a month or so, he’s in a great space mentally, he’s revved himself up.
He was in a bad spot. Now, he’s picked himself back up, now he’s in a great spot. It was great to see, and I back him all the way.”
