At AEW Winter Is Coming 2020 – fans would see the return of Sting to professional wrestling. Following his forced retirement in WWE after a neck injury suffered in a match against Seth Rollins – no one expected to see Sting back into the ring.
However, he would prove that he had a lot left in the tank in a series of insane tag team and trios matches. These matches have been few and far between, but no one but Sting will decide when he’s done this time around.
Tony Khan Refuses To Be The One To Pull The Plug On Sting’s AEW Career
During the media call for All In, Tony Khan would talk about how much Sting has left in the ring – and how it is up to Sting when he’s done.
“Sting is very well aware that I would like him to stay as long as he feels physically up to wrestling. I think he enjoys doing it and he’s having a lot of fun. Sometimes you hit on things in life that you think are going to be good and they turn out to be great. For me, a good example of that is Sting and Darby together. Not just on screen, but off-screen too.
There have been so many great memories for Sting in AEW. I don’t want it to end. I won’t be the one to pull the plug on it. When the time comes, Sting knows he needs to the one to say, ‘I don’t want to do this anymore,’ because I’m going to let him go as long as he wants. I want him to stay as long as he can. It’s so important to me that we let Sting finish his career the right way.”
Sting will be in action this weekend at the biggest show in AEW history, All In. There he will team with Darby Allin to face Swerve Strickland & AR Fox in a tag team coffin match.
