There’s an old saying “some people just can’t stand prosperity” and it looks like CM Punk fits that saying more snuggly than he should or probably wants to.
Following his altercation with Jack Perry, there have been numerous accounts of what happened and several have questioned whether AEW would have a legitimate investigation or use it as an excuse to punish of get rid of Punk.
CM Punk Allegedly Sucker Punched Jack Perry and Lunged at Tony Kahn
Since Punk was released, fans are still waiting for the definitive account of what happened. Unlike his brawl with the Elite, Wembley Stadium has cameras everywhere and there are eyewitness accounts from neutral parties and according to the eyewitness reports it looks like Punk went on the attack.

Hitting more than his pride
While this brings Punk’s run in AEW to a less than stellar conclusion, it’ll give fans plenty to speculate on for years to come, especially the what could have been.
Unfortunately, roughly half or more of his time with the company was spent injured or suspended for altercations, and this time it’s possible his reputation will take a bigger hit than previously.
According to Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a neutral eyewitness seems to put the entire incident on Punk.
Special thanks to Sportskeeda.com for the following transcript.
“Another version, and this would be a neutral source who was not a wrestler, but was there and witnessed it, and his version was that, right after Perry came to the back, Punk went nose-to-nose with him aggressively and asked him if he had a problem. That person said Perry said he was just looking to get heat as a heel.
“Punk shoved him hard, Perry got in his face and in that version, Punk sucker punched him and went for a choke. People immediately broke it up and Khan was yelling at Punk to let him go. That person said that once they were separated, Punk lunged in Khan’s direction but a number of people got in his way while Punk was yelling ‘I Quit.’ Monitors were knocked down during all this.”
This is something that could do a lot of harm to Punk’s legacy and desire to wrestler for a company again is the video evidence backs up with report.
Although to be fair, there could be a lot more going on we don’t know about with Punk and he may have cracked under the overall pressure. Anything’s possible and we hope is there’s something more that he can take steps needed to remedy it.
