WWE did not expect LA Knight to become one of their most popular wrestlers in 2023, but are trying to deal with the hand they’ve been dealt. Knight’s popularity is still increasing week by week, and his recent endorsement by John Cena at Payback 2023 only helps his chances of major success in WWE.
Not wanting to let this chance for a true star pass through their fingers – WWE are already working on getting a longer deal set up for LA Knight, but nothing is signed yet.
WWE Is Looking To Keep LA Knight Around For As Long As Possible
Right now, LA Knight is signed to WWE through 2025 – giving WWE about a year and a half to work out the details of his next deal.
However, given how fast he’s been gaining steam – WWE wants to ensure they don’t put time into building him up only to lose him to All Elite Wrestling. Because of this, they’re negotiating a five year deal with LA Knight.
Talks aren’t currently going smoothly, with Fightful reporting that Knight & WWE remain ‘far apart’ on money at this stage. It’s clear that Knight knows his value at this stage, and will not allow WWE to undersell him or his current potential in the company.
Knight has been put alongside Cody Rhodes as one of the biggest merchandise sellers in 2023, and could well be at the top of that list if things continue to trend in his direction.
The Last Chance For Knight To Reach His Maximum Potential In WWE
We can only hope that these negotiations end up working out, as Knight truly is a perfect fit for WWE right now. Despite having a fairly clean bill of health in terms of injury, Knight is 40 years old – meaning this is his best chance to truly reach the top of professional wrestling.
This contract is of high importance for that reason, as there might not be another chance to capitalise on Knight for WWE. It could be the difference between him being a passing fad and him being in the Hall of Fame.
