When it comes to the history of All Elite Wrestling – there is one man who has always been able to go above and beyond for the company.
Since making his debut at Double or Nothing 2019, Jon Moxley has been positioned as one of the top names in the company. Fresh off a WWE run as Dean Ambrose, Moxley felt he had a lot to prove – and over the past five years, he’s become on of the people Tony Khan relies on the most.
Tony Khan Knows He Can Rely On Jon Moxley, And That He Will Always Be A Top Star
While speaking with Josh Martinez on Superstar Crossover before AEW Grand Slam, Tony Khan would have the following to say about the ace of AEW – Jon Moxley.
“Well, I think it’s one thing to say that Jon Moxley is one of the greatest wrestlers in the world and frankly, I think for AEW, it’s another thing for us that’s very true. Jon Moxley is one of the most important people ever in AEW and from the very beginning, he’s been one of our top stars.”
Probably the easiest example of Moxley being dependable came in 2022, when he had to fill in twice due to injuries suffered by now ex-AEW star CM Punk. Moxley first covered after a foot injury, and again after AEW All Out 2022 – before dropping the AEW World Championship to MJF.
Out With An Injury Following AEW Grand Slam
Currently, Jon Moxley is injured following AEW Grand Slam. He would suffer a concussion during the match, leading to a shocking win by Rey Fenix – making Fenix the first man to hold the AEW World Trios, Tag Team & International Championships.
Moxley isn’t expected to miss much ring time – with his concussion being described as ‘mild’ by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. Moxley signed a new contract with AEW in 2022, putting him in the company until 2027.
